Hey there, I’m Emily 👋
If my job had a favorite key on the keyboard, it would be Backspace. Most people think copywriting is about finding the right words. Honestly, a lot of it is about deleting the wrong ones until only the useful part is left.
I learned that over three-plus years of writing blogs for all kinds of websites, in all kinds of niches. Every topic was different, but the job never changed. There were always a hundred things I could say and only a handful the reader actually needed. Finding that handful became my favorite part of the work.
Kitchen appliances and home decor turned out to be the perfect fit for that mindset. A home is one of the most carefully edited places in anyone’s life. Every appliance on the counter and every piece on the wall has to earn its spot, or it eventually gets moved, donated, or pushed to the back of a cabinet.
I hold my writing to the same standard. When I cover a coffee maker or a wall shelf, I skip the feature dump and focus on what you’d actually want to know: what it does well, who it suits, and whether it will still feel like a good choice once it’s sitting in your home.
Before all of this, I was in the Master of Arts Program in the Humanities at the University of Chicago, surrounded by long, dense, brilliant writing. It gave me a deep respect for big ideas, and an even deeper respect for anyone who can explain them in plain words. That’s the kind of writer I try to be.
These days, I write from New Hampshire as Senior Copywriter at WarmPicks. And yes, this bio went through a few rounds of Backspace too. What you just read is everything that made the cut.

How Emily takes on a blog post from scratch
- Pins down the reader’s goal: before writing a word, she defines what the reader needs to decide or do by the end.
- Builds on verified information: details come from manufacturer specifications, product manuals, and trusted owner feedback.
- Leads with the answer: the key takeaway appears near the top, so no one has to dig for it specifically.
- Translates specs into everyday terms: numbers like wattage or capacity are explained by what they mean for daily use.
- Considers how it fits the home: size, footprint, and finish get covered too, because an appliance has to suit the space as well as the task.
- Edits until every line has a job: repetition and filler content come out, and every figure is double-checked.
- Passes editorial review: Michael Carter, our Content Editor, proofreads every post before it goes live.
